Hurricane (CHVRCHES Remix) x MS MR

If someone were to come to me and say, “hey! I really love CHVRCHES, could you recommend me some music similar to them?” NY-based synthpop duo MS MR would definitely be near the top of the list and vice versa. So, it’s interesting to hear a MS MR track remixed by a band which very often works with similar sounds.

Valentine feat. Kyiki (Kyogi Remix) x DE$iGNATED

DE$iGNATED’s “Valentine” got remixed by Kyogi, Carling Ruse, and Applebottom for an upcoming digital release via Shifting Peaks, but I think Kyogi’s remix is my personal favorite. The 15-year-old gave the track the dance floor treatment with futuristic funk vibes.

Changes (James Blake Remix) x Mala

Apparently, back in 2010 James Blake sent Mala an email merely stating “I’ve just done a remix,” with this attached.

James and Mala both began rocking this remix at their live shows, but never released it to fans. Essential, the only way to hear the track was to see one of them spin it live. In doing so it became one of the most sought after remixes!

3 years later and it’s finally getting a release.

Oh Sailor (Strange Talk Remix) x Mr Little Jeans

I have a love/hate relationship with Mr Little Jeans. Back in 2011, she gave me one of my favorite covers I’ve ever heard; a chillwave version of Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs”.

She gains nearly instant notoriety and fame among the indie pop community and blogosphere. Fast forward to 2012 and all she gives to us is “Runaway” a decent single that had me hooked for a day or two, but lacking when compared to her amazing cover.

2013 comes along and my heart skips a beat as I eye a new track “Oh Sailor” by Mr Little Jeans. Hit the play button grinning like a little boy on X-mas morning, but my smile starts to fade fast. I pause the song after a minute or two, sigh loudly, and decide to finish it for the sake of hearing it out. It just felt so mediocre and boring.

The same can’t be said for this Strange Talk remix. Strange Talk gave Mr Little Jeans what she was missing in her previous releases, but I know she has in her because we’ve all seen it with “The Suburbs”.

Time (Feat. Sacred Animals) x Young Wonder

Time will be the second single off of Irish electropop duo Young Wonder’s new EP, Show Your Teeth. They teamed up with Wexford-based Sacred Animals for some smooth male vocals in contrast with Young Wonder’s raspy female vocalist and then loaded the track with heavy synths and a fat bass.
