Dancing Anymore x Is Tropical

“Dancing Anymore” is the lead single off of indie pop band Is Tropical’s upcoming album, I’m Leaving, out May 20th via Kitsune.

I’m a huge fan of the Kitsune label. They have great taste in artists and I especially love their compilation albums. So, when they posted this video to their Facebook page with the caption “Youtube took Is Tropical’s video down (as expected), but you can still watch it on Vimeo” I was intrigued.

Clicked the video and it begins with a pool boy seeing off a MILF to be left alone in a mansion. I was certain the lady would come back and they would go at it or something like that. Boy, was I wrong!!! What a fucked up video! Haha! I don’t want to give this shit away, but just… WOW! I’m dying! Haha!

Let It Go x Fe

Watching basically unknown artists blow up is always an interesting experience. I’ve seen it happen with Azealia Banks, Lana Del Rey, Icona Pop, and Purity Ring to name a few. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fe, a singer-songwriter from London end up following in their footsteps.

I dunno what’s more hypnotizing; The percussion’s addicting beat along with her seductive vocals or her home-made video, with her wearing nothing but a Carmen Sandiego style hat and speaking volumes with her eyes.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for her!

Now Is Not The Time x CHVRCHES

My Sister texted me the other day and told me to check out Glasglow-based synthpop band CHVRCHES. Little did she know that CHVRCHES has been on my radar ever since their single “The Mother We Share” dropped in September of last year.

CHVRCHES just released a video for their newest tracks “Recover” and “Now Is Not The Time”. They aren’t flashy videos, but the old school roller rink atmosphere fits their 80s electronic sound.

Manhattan x Cat Power

One of my favorite Cat Power tracks finally got a video, unfortunately, it isn’t as great as the song. I love that Cat Power is just taking in Manhattan and all the glorious things the city has to offer, but I wish more time was spent walking around and interacting with the city instead of atop a bus much like the guided tour buses that all us real NYers laugh at as it passes us by. With all the tourists pointing their cameras every which way and not actually breathing in the life of the city, but merely standing on the edge of it all; Still very much an outside. I feel like this could be done way better.

Without You (feat. Kerry Leatham) x Lapalux

He’s already got two well received EPs under his belt, now Lapalux is getting everyone excited for his first full-length album, Nostalchic. The lead single “Without You” features the somber vocals of Kerry Leatham who he worked with previously on one of my favorite tracks “Forgetting and Learning Again”.

The video is a complete mind fuck, with twisted imagery that looks like a mix between a porno and a David Lynch film.

The track hits all the right notes with an unmovable sadness attached to each beat. This is for the times when you want to relish your despair.

Glass x MØ

My favorite Danish singer and glorious synthpop starlet’s music video for her second single “Glass” is leaving me a little disappointed. I much prefer the candid glimpse into her personality that she gave us in her homemade style video for “Pilgrim”. I still adore this song though and recommend you give it a listen if you haven’t heard it yet.
